<title>Accepting Applications for Director of Business and Finance</title>

<description>Eastern Michigan University Student Government is taking applications for the Director of Business and Finance. Applications are available in the Student Government Office, 342 EMU Student Center. Completed Applications are to be left at the front desk of the Student Government Office. No applications will be accepted after February 21, 2012. The position is open until filled. The functions of the Director of Business and Finance include:
 
Administer the finances of Student Government.
Collect and file all receipts for purchases made by Student Government
Maintain regular contact with Assistant VP for Student Services/Business Operation
Must attend bi-weekly meetings with a Campus Life coordinator, or at the coordinator’s discretion.
Assist the Student Body President with the composition of the Student Government budget.
Produce monthly updates of the budget to the Senate.
Chair the Business and Finance standing committee, ensure its members are meeting their responsibilities and report attendance in the committee.
 
It is recommended that applicants have experience with accounting, public policy, budgeting, leadership, strong communications skills, and be well organized. Submit a general application along with the director application before 5pm on the January 6th deadline. Familiarity with the Student Government bylaws is a requirement. <title>Accepting Applications for Judicial Sergeant</title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;Eastern Michigan University Student Government is beginning to take applications for the position of Judicial Sergeant. Applications are available in the Student Government Office, 342 EMU Student Center. Completed Applications are to be left at the front desk of the Student Government Office. No applications will be accepted after February 14, 2012. The position is open until filled.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;The Sergeant shall also be held to the same standards and requirements as a senator in regards to Senate&amp;nbsp;attendance and office hours.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The judicial sergeant is required to fulfill the following duties:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1. Student Senate Attendance. Must attend all meetings of the Senate.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2. Student Government Committee Attendance. Must attend all Internal Affairs Committee meetings.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3. Parliamentarian. Serve as Senate Parliamentarian and must bring a copy of the latest version of Roberts Rules of Order: Newly Revised, the Student Body Constitution and the Bylaws of Student Government to each Senate meeting. The documents must be made available to any voting members for use during a Senate meeting. As parliamentarian, he or she must provide advice for the ruling of the presiding officer, when requested.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4. Property and Room Set-Up. Maintain the properties of Student Government, including its gavels, name placards, or other material, and bring them to Senate meetings. The judicial sergeant shall also be responsible for ensuring that rooms for Senate meetings are in proper arrangement and shall ensure that they are left clean and in good shape after meetings end.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;5. Timekeeper and Guard. Shall keep time of all Senate reports, debate and total length. The judicial sergeant, or appointed designee, shall also guard the door during executive sessions of the Senate and shall be responsible for escorting individuals to and from the Senate chamber when deemed necessary by the Senate.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;6. Judicial Committee. Shall convene the Judicial Committee, for reasons and situations described in these Bylaws.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;7. Grade Grievance Assistant. The judicial sergeant shall be available to assist any member of the student body in the grade grievance and student judicial process. The judicial sergeant must be trained by and take the role of student advocate with the University Ombudsman&amp;rsquo;s Office and Student Judicial Services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;8. Training. This officer shall be responsible for conducting the training course of Student Government, where not otherwise described in these rules. a. This officer, along with the Internal Affairs Committee, shall also be responsible for training new&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;members of Student Government.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;p&gt;The School of Health Promotion and Human Performance and the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management are empowering students to become active bystanders. A bystander is someone in a crowd that sees a potentially dangerous situation, has concerns and does nothing. The bystander effect is a social phenomenon in which the presence of other people reduces helping behavior.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Project E Power will launch the first training on Friday, April 1. The purpose of the training to help students understand what influences a persons willngness to help and what you can do to reduce typical bystander incidents.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;THESE TRAININGS ARE OPEN&amp;nbsp;TO ANYONE&amp;nbsp;WHO&amp;nbsp;IS&amp;nbsp;INTERESTED.&lt;/p&gt;

<title>Accepting Applications for Judicial Sergeant </title>

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The position of judicial sergeant may not be held by another officer or senator of Student&amp;nbsp;Government.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Sergeant shall also be held to the same standards and requirements as a senator in regards to Senate&amp;nbsp;attendance and office hours.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The judicial sergeant is required to fulfill the following duties:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Student Senate Attendance. Must attend all meetings of the Senate.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Student Government Committee Attendance. Must attend all Internal Affairs Committee meetings.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Parliamentarian. Serve as Senate Parliamentarian and must bring a copy of the latest version of Roberts Rules&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;of Order: Newly Revised, the Student Body Constitution and the Bylaws of Student Government to each Senate meeting. The documents must be made available to any voting members for use during a Senate meeting. As parliamentarian, he or she must provide advice for the ruling of the presiding officer, when requested.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Property and Room Set-Up. Maintain the properties of Student Government, including its gavels, name placards, or other material, and bring them to Senate meetings. The judicial sergeant shall also be responsible for ensuring that rooms for Senate meetings are in proper arrangement and shall ensure that they are left clean and in good shape after meetings end.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;5.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Timekeeper and Guard. Shall keep time of all Senate reports, debate and total length. The judicial sergeant, or appointed designee, shall also guard the door during executive sessions of the Senate and shall be responsible for escorting individuals to and from the Senate chamber when deemed necessary by the Senate.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;6.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Judicial Committee. Shall convene the Judicial Committee, for reasons and situations described in these Bylaws.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;7.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Grade Grievance Assistant. The judicial sergeant shall be available to assist any member of the student body in the grade grievance and student judicial process. The judicial sergeant must be trained by and take the role of student advocate with the University Ombudsman&amp;rsquo;s Office and Student Judicial Services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;8.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Training. This officer shall be responsible for conducting the training course of Student Government, where not otherwise described in these rules. a.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;This officer, along with the Internal Affairs Committee, shall also be responsible for training new&lt;/p&gt;

<title>EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFERS EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR FOR STUDENT LEADERS ON CAMPUS</title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;YPSILANTI- Over 130 student leaders converged on the campus of Eastern Michigan University Friday August 6&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt;. Students represented a variety of extra curricular organizations such as club sports, social, service, educational organizations in hopes of renewing campus solidarity and level of student involvement for the upcoming school year.&lt;strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Campus Life and Student Government put on the initiative to foster growth and raise the quality of student leadership and their organizations. These Student Affairs departments have collaborated with many university resources to provide a service for an educational conference relevant to student involvement.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The purpose of SOLAR (Student Organization Learning And Resources) is to give campus leaders the information to successfully transition into leadership position as well as cover university policies and best practices as they relate to continually engaging the campus and students at Eastern Michigan.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;Putting on this series of seminars to establish sustainable and effective groups was the most important aspect of SOLAR.&amp;rdquo; Robin Chaustowich said, Campus Life&amp;rsquo;s Program Coordinator for Student Organization. &amp;ldquo;It was really exciting to get everyone together in the summer to get on track for the academic year.&amp;rdquo; Robin, along with students in Campus Life and Student Government coordinated the series of talks.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Sessions were held during breakout time to cover a wide array of skills to get more out of their organization and the university. Topics included advertising &amp;amp; promotions for events, all things money, event planning, leadership &amp;amp; management styles, membership, recruitment, philanthropy and community service to provide a well rounded structure for students to learn and model their organizations from. The summer seminar was just the starting point of the latest ongoing series of enhancements that will be held each month.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Fall SOLAR series will take place the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 5pm in room 302 of the Student Center.&amp;nbsp; The seminars are free and open without registration to all student organization members. <title>2010-2011 STUDENT GOVERNMENT APPOINTS INTERIM EXECUTIVE BOARD</title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;YPSILANTI- Eastern Michigan University Student Government has assembled a new Executive Board this summer for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year. The appointments&amp;nbsp; made by Student Body President Antonio Cosme and Vice President Muayad Mahmoud. The appointments will ensure the proper functioning of Student Government throughout the summer session when other members are not active.&amp;nbsp; The appointments will join the Student Body President, Vice President, Speaker of the Senate, and the Judicial Sergeant to comprise the Executive Boards. All positions on the Executive Boards must be approved by the Student Senate in the Fall. The Executive board is the main coordinating body for all parts of the Student Government and may, in times of emergency, act on behalf the Student Senate.&lt;/p&gt;
